At Coole Swan we pride ourselves on having remained an independently owned and family run business with traditional roots and methods which have helped to shape our journey so far in becoming the well-loved brand we are today.
But what does this mean to us?
Being independently owned means we have no one to answer to. All decisions from operations and distribution, to production, to marketing and sales are made in house by our tight-knit talented team. It means we are a small fish in a huge pond, but this makes every win, no matter how big or small extra special.
In the short decade since our inception, Coole Swan has achieved significant renown, firmly securing our rightful place as a major player in the Irish Cream Liqueur market.
Yet despite selling over 150,000 bottles of our premium single malt Irish cream liqueur annually to countries all over the world, staying true to our roots remains of the utmost importance as we continue to operate from our fifth-generation family farm in the Boyne Valley, Co. Meath, where it all started, an ethos which makes each sip of Coole Swan even more enjoyable.
For us, being family run means the entire team is bonded by a common goal – to be the best premium cream liqueur in the world and see our Coole Swan bottle standing proud on every supermarket, off-license, bar and restaurant shelves across the world.
When it comes to a family business it is all down to unified vision, innovation, and growth.
Trust
Successful businesses around the world run on the basis of trust and honesty. The relationship of family members is based on trust, and it is one of the biggest determinants in the ongoing success of Coole Swan.
Unity
Heading in the same direction is very crucial in any business. Our family places the interests of the business ahead of all other self-interests. When there is unity, communication and decision making becomes less complex. Allowing us more time to focus on our customer, our partners and our team.
Ethical standards and values
Studies show that 85% of family business are run by ethical standards and family values. This means family businesses look at more than just revenues. Our business decisions are guided by our values and ethical practices rather than profit so sometimes we may err a little more on quality, value and sustainability. But we think it is the right thing to do.
Not all about the Money
For us, success is not determined by our balance sheet. We measure our success by looking at the bigger picture – animal welfare and sustainable farming methods, premium quality product good enough to drink made only with the highest quality ingredients, happy customers tasting Coole Swan for the first time and being converted into a customer for life, and watching our business grow all from our HQ on our farm in County Meath.
